Environmental variables can still be manually set and the default ">>> boot" will work.
However, there is something wrong with the EEPROM, and this can be fixed with a ">>>
build eeprom"; after this the MOP boot will be ok.
Note: ">>> build eeprom" causes customer environmental variables to be lost so note them
first using ">>> show *" .
14.1.15 TEST DWLMA* fails on VAX 7000s with multiple XMIs
This failure may occur on VAX 7000 systems with 2 x DWLMAs connected as dwlma0 and
dwlma1. When they are both tested together using the above command the diagnostic fails
as it is finishing, thus:
Stopping DWLMA exerciser on dwlma0
Stopping DWLMA exerciser on dwlma1
CPU 0: unexpected exception/interrupt...
[loadza registers...]
Failing FRU: iop0
Catastrophic IO failure, system will be reset
Don’t panic, this is a diagnostic problem (presumably on all current VAX 7000 consoles).
Either test the DWLMAs individually, or move the 2nd hose to IOP slot 3 (makes the 2nd
DWLMA dwlma2). The test will then complete correctly.
14.1.16 HSD05 slow boot + no auto reboot on VAX 7000
Booting from an RZxx device on an HSD05, over 5DSSI is very slow (6 minutes from VMS
banner to next message!). Also, auto reboot fails with the message "Unable to initialise
device...". These problems occur with all V3.* consoles. The following patch can be applied
to fix the reboot problem; there is no fix for the slow boot at present. (No mention of either
of these bugs in the V4.0 release notes - not sure if they’re fixed).
This patch can only be applied to V3.3 consoles and should only be implemented on VAX
7000/10000 systems that have system disks on an HSD05.
Execute the flowing commands to install the patch.
>>> set mode advanced
>>> set eeprom script powerup
Script> set mode advanced
Script> ka7aa_pwrup
Script> echo "Applying HSD05 reboot patch to console" > tt
Script> show device kfmsa*
Script> set mode basic
Script> ^Z
>>> set mode basic
This message pops out at Initialise time to tell you the patch is being applied.
