This chapter explains how to install the Red Hat V6.2 distribution on Alpha

systems. The following general steps are required:

• Determining the SRM firmware version

• Examining the system configuration

• Configuring SRM boot environment variables

• Preparing the system disks

• Installing the Red Hat distribution

• Creating and editing the BSD Disklabels (with Disk Druid)

• Disk Druid example

• Making final configuration changes

NOTE: The SRM console examples in this chapter are based on the

AlphaServer DS10 system. Console output will vary depending on the

Alpha model.
